The Campaigns Officer is responsible for running student-relevant campaigns throughout the year and usually delivers two Campaigns per semester. The three campaigns delivered in Semester A were a Healthy Living Campaign, a Campaign to promote the use of our ‘C-Card’ initiative and an NUS Scotland HE Funding Campaign. In Semester B, there was a promotion of the 'free drinking water' facilities won for students in the Saltire Centre.
GCUSA also runs representation campaigns for specific groups of students. To find out more about them, click here.

C-Card Christmas Campaign
- C-Card is a project run from the Sandyford Initiative in Glasgow, whereby students can obtain a free supply of condoms from the Welfare Department of the Students’ Association
- Our Campaigns Officer worked with the Welfare Department’s C-Card Advisor to come up with an innovative way of promoting the use of the initiative
- This resulted in a Christmas Card campaign with cards being delivered to students in University Accommodation with information about the service and a condom placed inside

NUS Scotland HE Funding Campaign
- This was run in Students’ Associations across Scotland last Semester and at Glasgow Caledonian in December ‘07
- The campaign was made up of three main strands:
- To provide information to the membership regarding current developments in HE funding in Scotland
- Encouraging members to send letters to their MSPs urging them to support the abolition of the Graduate Endowment system
- Carry out research relating to student financial hardship in Scotland and how that has effected their student experience in Higher Education
- Previous research carried out by NUS Scotland has shown that, after rent, students in Scotland have an average of £8.05 per week to spend on everything else leading to financial hardship, increased debt and more students entering part-time/full-time employment whilst at University
- The one-day campaign within the North Hanover Street Building saw participation of over one hundred of our members
