
Candidates must not campaign in any way before the close of nominations (4pm, Friday 22nd February 2008). The Returning Officer will take appropriate action against any candidate found to be doing this.
Candidates are not allowed to use any other publicity materials other than those produced by the Students’ Associations. However, candidates are allowed to use up to £30 of their own money for “gimmicks”. It cannot be used to buy extra publicity but if you want t shirts, a banner, lollipops etc. You must speak to the Returning Officer to clear what you want to do and provide evidence of your expenditure.
Candidates are free to distribute publicity on notice boards and other reasonable locations within the Students’ Association Building and University Buildings. Any publicity deemed to be in an inappropriate place by the Returning Officer shall be removed. NO CHALKING is allowed.
You may set up a social networking site (eg bebo, myspace etc) but remember to adhere to the University IT regulations (ie you cannot send emails to your classmates through Blackboard about elections). You must tell the Returning Officer your bebo/myspace etc site and make sure it is made public.
No current elected member can use their office or Association resources for any campaigning purposes.
Candidates and their Agent shall be responsible for ensuring that campaign teams abide by election regulations. There should be no campaigning within 6 feet of the ballot station. Election Assistants will inform the Returning Officers should campaign team consistently breach this rule. All publicity should be taken down immediately after close of ballot stations.
