Badminton - Code of Practice

PLAYERS

Members should wear light clothing appropriate for badminton activities.

Members should wear appropriate footwear i.e. indoor court training shoes. Heavy shoes are not suitable.

Members are advised to 'warm up' for all events both before practice and before competition. Further information on Injury Prevention is available from the Sports Union office.

COACHING

The Club will have a qualified coach at club training events.

PLAYING AREA

Club members have a responsibility to check the court for spillage or objects prior to play.

Play should stop immediately if any object comes onto the court of play during a rally.

All equipment such as nets, posts, net supports, and rackets should be checked regularly for wear.

Personal effects should be stored in lockers if available. Club equipment and benches should be placed well to the side of the playing areas.

To avoid collision club members, other players and spectators should not walk behind or along the sideline of a court whilst a rally is in progress.

Only the recognised number of players per court shall participate in matches. During practice sessions attention should be paid to the number of students playing at the one time on a court.
