GCU Loch Ness Sponsored Swim
GCU Swimming Club will be swimming the length of Loch Ness on Saturday 26th April to raise funds for charity and for club activities. The 24 mile swim will be completed in 1 mile sections by nine students from GCU. The swimmers will be on campus in their wetsuits on Wednesday 23rd April to collect donations for the Loch Lomond Rescue Boats, the RNLI and the Club. If you’d like to make a donation the main fundraising stall will be in the Saltire reception area during the day.

The swimming club is open to everyone...from those who have lots of experience to those who aren't very confident in the water. Over the past couple of years the club has gained in size and increased its success at Scottish University Competitions. Competition swimming at GCU is all about having fun; the competitions are open to those who are serious in the sport but also to those who are new to the sport. We have been involved in the Scottish University leagues for the last few years which involves galas most Wednesday nights both home and away. Always a good opportunity to socialise with the other unis. The two annual Scottish University Competitions are always good fun and involve fancy dress and black tie events. Over the last few years the club has attended these events and is now a part of the years social calendar.
As the university has no pool we swim at Springburn Pool on a Tuesday evening (9-10pm). We organise a minibus to take the swimmers every Tuesday night, and quite often head to the union for one or two afterwards. The club also swims at Strathlcyde Uuni pool every Saturday (10am - 11am). So to all of you students out there, if you fancy getting fit, socialising and don't mind getting your feet wet then come along.
