Every year GCU students are recognised and acknowledged for outstanding sporting achievement or voluntary service to sport, these outstanding students are presented an award at the Annual Awards Ball.  Do you think you know a student who should be nominated for an award? Click on the links to the right to see who has previously been recognised. Below is the criteria for all the Sports Awards.

 

 

 

Certificates

 

 

 

Full Blues: Awarded for consistent, exceptional performance and outstanding accomplishments throughout the academic year.


Half Blues: Awarded for consistent, outstanding performance and accomplishments throughout the academic year.


Colours: Awarded for exceptional service to a Sports Club (incl. culmination of years of commitment) or active involvement as a volunteer committee member organising sports activities.

 

 

 

Trophies

 

 

 

Sports Person of the Year: The Sports Person of the Year Trophy is awarded to the person(s) who has had the most outstanding, best performance or achievement for the academic year.


Team of the Year: Awarded to the team with best overall performance for the academic year.
Ross Baillie Award: The Ross Baillie Plate is awarded to the person(s) who has given the most outstanding voluntary commitment and contribution to a Sports Club for the academic year.


Coach of the Year: Awarded to the Sports Club coach who has given exceptional service and outstanding voluntary commitment to a Sports Club for the academic year.


Alex Goodman Trophy: Awarded to the 1st year student who has shown the most outstanding commitment & service to a sports club for the academic year.


Club of the Year: Awarded to a Sports Club that has had the most extraordinary academic year taking into account the number of activities, visibility and profile, interaction with members, social events, fundraisers and overall development.
