In November 2008, the first ever Student Summit event took place acting as a precursor to the Caledonian Conference which will be entering its second year in March 2009.
The purpose of the Summit was to allow the Students' Association to gauge the opinion of class reps through broad discussions of key issues that would help set the agenda for Conference '09. The issues that were discussed were the GCU Induction and the Use of Technology in Learning.
From the discussion groups feedback was produced from the comments made by Class Reps and from questionnaires filled in at each of the sessions. From this, a discussion group dedicated to block timetabling, academic support for personal study and Wednesday afternoons off and a presentation from the Blended Learning Implementation Group updating students on the latest developments with Blackboard will now be included in this year's conference.
