Personal Issues

Faith

The Chaplaincy is here to support you with your spiritual life and faith. They can   offer you a safe place to talk, think and pray. You can contact them by calling 0141 331 8576.

Safety

The chances of you being the victim of a crime are pretty low, but that shouldn't stop you from taking steps to minimise the risk. It's important to stay safe while you're out walking, taking public transport and taxis or socialising with friends. Come along to the Welfare Department  (NH117) and pick up relevant information that will help keep you safe.

Harassment

If you are a victim of unwanted sexual attention, have suffered from racial or homophobic abuse contact the Welfare Adviser on 0141 273 1613 or come along to the Welfare Department on the 1st Floor of the North Hanover Sreet Building, room NH117 and your issues and concerns can be discussed in complete confidence

Stress

Coming to university can be stressful.  For someone to talk to contact the Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor on 0141 273 1449.  Alternatively pick up some leaflets from the Welfare Department

Sexuality

Leaving home and coming to university brings with it a sense of independence and new found freedom, which perhaps didn't exist before. This can be a difficult and confusing time in your life, particularly if you are discovering your own sexuality. Click on the link for more information and support.

Safe Sex = C-Card = Free Condoms

The  C-Card is a service in Glasgow offering you free access to a range of condoms with minimum embarrassment. In Glasgow rates of HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are on the increase, especially among young people. The Welfare Department has been approved as a registration and distribution site for this service through The Sandyford Initiative

How Does It Work?

All you have to do to get your free condoms is visit the Welfare Department and register. We are open Monday - Friday 10.00 - 5pm. When registering the only information you will be asked to supply is the first part of your postcode and your date of birth. Once registered you can use your C-Card as often as you like to receive up to 12 free condoms at a time. You can also use your C-Card at the different distribution sites across Glasgow.
