Winner - Stephen Nutter
Stephen was awarded Bronze Student Leader of the Year as a recognition for the vast amount of time and dedication he put in to his sports club as well as his consideration for others. The Canoe Club at GCU was once a flagging club and despite having a shoulder injury that prevented him from participating in any activities Stephen solely transformed the flagging Club into an active, sociable and welcoming sports club. His example has led other students to support the club by becoming involved in driving, instructing and the committee for next year. He is trustworthy, consistent and has shown that he has the ability to manage all aspects of the club including finances, equipment management, trip planning and social events. Furthermore he drove the minibus and trailer to and from activities, which means is that Stephen droped off students at the 'get in' and then waited for them in the minibus at the 'get out' while they enjoyed paddling the river. Stephen truly is a fine example to any student volunteer of unselfish commitment and dedication for the benefit of others.
